Card Distribution

Understanding Sequences

Pure Sequence

A pure sequence is a group of 3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit, without using any joker.

Examples of Pure Sequences:

  • 3♠ 4♠ 5♠ (Three consecutive spades)
  • 10♥ J♥ Q♥ K♥ (Four consecutive hearts)
  • A♣ 2♣ 3♣ (Ace, 2, 3 of clubs)

⚠️ Important: At least one pure sequence is mandatory for a valid declaration.

Impure Sequence

An impure sequence is a group of 3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit, but it can include a joker.

Examples of Impure Sequences:

  • 5♦ Joker 7♦ (Joker replaces 6♦)
  • J♠ Q♠ Joker (Joker replaces K♠)

Understanding Sets

A set is a group of 3 or 4 cards of the same rank but different suits. Sets can include jokers.

Examples of Sets:

  • 7♠ 7♥ 7♣ (Three 7s of different suits)
  • K♦ K♠ K♥ K♣ (Four Kings of all suits)
  • 9♠ 9♥ Joker (Joker replaces 9 of another suit)

⚠️ Note: You cannot have two cards of the same suit in a set.

Jokers in Rummy

Jokers are special cards that can substitute for any card to complete a sequence or set.

Printed Joker

The card with "Joker" printed on it. There are 2 printed jokers in a deck.

Wild Joker

A random card selected at the start of the game. All cards of that rank become wild jokers.

Important: Jokers cannot be used in pure sequences. They can only be used in impure sequences and sets.

Valid Declaration Rules

For a valid declaration, you must have:

  • At least 2 sequences, one of which must be a pure sequence
  • All 13 cards arranged in valid sequences and/or sets
  • One card to discard (14th card)

Scoring System

Points are calculated based on the unarranged cards in your hand when an opponent declares.
